Juvelook reviewed — ingredients, six products, research and how to choose

Juvelook is one of the skin boosters I am asked about most, and the questions usually come in pieces: how is i different from Skin, can it go in the cheeks, how many sessions? This column puts the manufacturer’s data, the brochures and the published studies in one place. Each part links to a more detailed column. No prices or photos.

The short answer

Juvelook is a collagen booster that combines biodegradable PDLLA particles with hyaluronic acid in an 85:15 ratio. The hyaluronic acid adds hydration and volume first; collagen then forms around the PDLLA particles over weeks to months. There are six products, split by vial size (30, 50, 100, 200 mg) and particle size (20–65 µm) into dermal products (i, Skin, Juvelook) and subcutaneous products (Volume 100, Volume, G). Human studies report improvements in fine lines, texture, elasticity and acne scars, and a 260-patient randomised trial in the same PDLLA class found nasolabial results comparable with hyaluronic acid filler. Miso Clinic in Daegu (4F Bombom Building, 125 Dongdeok-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu; +82 53-428-2700) stocks all six and chooses by concern and area.

What Juvelook is

Juvelook was launched by VAIM in 2019 and two million vials have been produced. It is registered in Korea as a class IV medical device in the tissue-repair category.

Each vial holds two things: PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid), a slowly dissolving polymer made into round, porous mesh-structured particles, and hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid gives the early hydration and volume; the PDLLA drives the collagen that follows.

One formula, divided by dose and particle size. Small particles spread evenly in the dermis through fine needles; large particles support broader areas under the skin. Each product has its own column below.

What the studies have shown

  • Skin rejuvenation, 16 patients — fine lines, texture, irregular pigmentation, telangiectasia and redness all improved; half reported more than 50% improvement; histology showed more collagen and elastic fibres.
  • Needle-free delivery, 40 patients — after five Juvelook sessions the improvement score (GAIS) kept rising from 8 to 24 weeks and satisfaction rose from 3.38 to 8.71.
  • Acne scars — scar grade improved by 36.99%; at five months the particles had largely degraded while collagen and elastic fibres had increased.
  • Same PDLLA class, 260-patient randomised trial — nasolabial response at 24 weeks was 67.6%, comparable with hyaluronic acid filler (60.9%), with follow-up to 52 weeks.
  • Mechanism studies — in aged mice and cell models, macrophages shift toward repair (M2) and stem cells, blood vessels, collagen and subcutaneous fat increase.

Results and how long they last vary with age, skin thickness and lifestyle.

Choosing by concern

Concerns and the Juvelook products we look at first
ConcernProducts first consideredRead next
Pores, texture, fine linesJuvelook i, Skin, JuvelookPores and texture
Acne scarsJuvelook, Skin, Volume 100Acne scars
Hollow cheeksVolume, Volume 100, GCheeks
Hollow templesVolume 100, Volume, GTemples
Flat forehead, forehead linesVolume 100, JuvelookForehead
Nasolabial and marionette linesVolume 100, VolumeNasolabial and marionette

Where a deep hollow needs shape straight away, we shape it first with dissolvable hyaluronic acid filler and use Juvelook to build the base. If sagging is the concern, lifting comes first. Under the eyes we recommend other options first.

Treatment and what to expect

  • Treatment — after numbing cream, injected with a fine needle or cannula: dermal products shallowly at many points, subcutaneous products deeper over a broader plane.
  • Straight after — the hyaluronic acid makes skin look hydrated and fuller.
  • Two to three weeks — as the hyaluronic acid absorbs, there is a phase where things look back to baseline. This is expected.
  • Weeks to months — collagen forms around the PDLLA and texture and elasticity improve gradually.
  • Sessions — studies mostly used two or three sessions about four weeks apart. I start small and decide the next step after seeing the face again a few weeks later.

Juvelook is a material that cannot simply be dissolved away, so adding gradually is the sensible order.

Juvelook FAQ

What is Juvelook?

A collagen booster combining PDLLA particles and hyaluronic acid in an 85:15 ratio, launched by VAIM in 2019 and registered in Korea as a class IV medical device.

How many Juvelook products are there?

Six: i and Skin (30 mg), Juvelook (50 mg), Volume 100 (100 mg), Volume and G (200 mg), split into dermal and subcutaneous products.

When does Juvelook start to work?

Hydration is visible straight away from the hyaluronic acid; collagen change builds over weeks to months. A brief phase at two to three weeks where things look unchanged is normal.

How many sessions?

Studies mostly used two or three sessions about four weeks apart. At Miso Clinic we start small and review after a few weeks.

Which Juvelook products does Miso Clinic have?

All six.
