The short answer

For atrophic acne scars we use dermal Juvelook or Skin for shallow scars and Volume 100 for deeper ones. The manufacturer’s brochure presents Juvelook and Juvelook Volume for acne scars and lists deep scars among Volume 100’s uses. In a study of PDLLA injected into scarred dermis over four sessions, scar grade improved 36.99% and satisfaction 79.65%; at five months the particles had largely degraded while collagen and elastic fibres had increased. Miso Clinic in Daegu (4F Bombom Building, 125 Dongdeok-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu; +82 53-428-2700) matches the product to scar depth.

What happens beneath a scar

An atrophic scar is where inflammation removed dermis. Placed beneath it, the hyaluronic acid lifts the floor first, then new collagen and elastic fibres form around the PDLLA to fill the lost space gradually.

What studies show

  • Microneedle RF + PDLLA — four sessions 4 weeks apart; scar grade 36.99% and satisfaction 79.65% better; at five months particles largely degraded and collagen and elastic fibres increased.
  • Needle-free — in atrophic scar cases treated needle-free, particles spread evenly through all dermal layers.
  • Brochure — presents cases with improved atrophic scars and texture 22 weeks after needle-free treatment.

Treatment and course

We assess scar shape and depth first and may combine Juvelook with releasing the scar base or an energy device. There is fullness straight away from the hyaluronic acid; around weeks two to three it can look back to baseline as the HA absorbs; then collagen builds support gradually over weeks to months.

The scar study used four sessions four weeks apart. I start small and decide whether to add after seeing the face again a few weeks later.
