Juvelook — PDLLA microparticles with hyaluronic acid
Juvelook does not fill. It leaves particles in the dermis and relies on your own collagen forming around them. Change therefore arrives slowly, and people who were not told that come away saying nothing happened. What Juvelook is, how Skin and Volume differ, and how far the evidence actually goes.
In one line
Juvelook is an injectable combining PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) microparticles with hyaluronic acid. The HA provides the immediate volume and hydration and then breaks down; what remains is the PDLLA. While those particles sit in the dermis, the intent is that collagen forms around them. It is not a filler, and visible change follows the pace at which collagen is made.

Same category, but more than a sixfold difference in content. “I had Juvelook” does not say what was actually injected — which is why a consultation has to separate Skin from Volume first.
What PDLLA is — and how it differs from Sculptra’s PLLA
Both are polymers derived from lactic acid. They part company on molecular arrangement.
- PLLA (Sculptra) is semi-crystalline. Its regular structure makes it slower to degrade.
- PDLLA (Juvelook) is amorphous. With no regular crystalline structure, it degrades comparatively faster.
Particle shape and size are also reported to differ — PLLA non-spherical at roughly 80µm, PDLLA spherical at roughly 30µm. However, those figures come from Korean trade press and we were not able to check them against academic literature. Read them as approximate.
Practically: faster degradation can mean a shorter hold, and it can also mean a little more room for time to resolve a problem. We could not find a comparative trial telling us which trade-off is better.
Where it sits among the other boosters
They all put something into the dermis; what differs is the nature of what goes in.

So Juvelook belongs to the “prompt it” side rather than the “supply it” side, and within that side it is one of the particle-containing products. Particles lead directly to the question of nodules.
Who it suits, and when it is difficult
A candidate when
- Texture is rough and pores are noticeable — Skin
- Skin has thinned and fine crepey lines have appeared — Skin
- The cheek or temple has hollowed gradually — Volume
- You would rather have change over time than an immediate result
A poor fit, or one we look at carefully
- You need a visible change before a fixed date — that runs against how this product works.
- You want to start with something reversible — we could not verify an established removal method. Cross-linked HA comes first here.
- Very thin areas such as under the eye — a nodule case has been reported at that site (below).
- Something hard to reverse already sits in the same area.
How far the evidence goes
This is the most important section on the page. In this category the distance between marketing copy and published evidence is unusually wide.
- We could not identify a randomised controlled trial. Nor a trial comparing it head-to-head with Sculptra or any other product.
- The human data we did verify is one study of the infraorbital hollow (Korean women; follow-up at 1 week, 1 month and 6 months). However, the abstract does not state the number of subjects, and there is no control group. Author affiliations include private practitioners and a training institute.
- The rest are case reports — one nodule, one ultrasound finding. A case report says “this happened”; it says nothing about frequency.
So what we can say about this product is not “proven” but “not yet properly tested”. That is not the same as saying it does not work. But if a consultation uses a phrase like “clinically proven”, it is fair to ask which study that came from.
Nodules — what has actually been reported
Nodules are a known adverse event across particle-containing collagen stimulators, and one case has been reported for Juvelook — a 42-year-old woman developed a firm, non-inflammatory nodule three weeks after injection under the eye, managed with a radiofrequency device.
How to read that case:
- One case gives no frequency. Neither “common” nor “rare” can be claimed from it.
- The site — under the eye — is worth noting: the thinner the skin, the more room there is for a particle to be felt.
- Some authors of this case report overlap with the efficacy paper above.
That is why we do not reach for this category first in the infraorbital area. Other options exist for the same site.
Reading the numbers
A number printed on product material reads like an approval number. But the number shown on the manufacturer’s public product site is a medical-advertising pre-review number, not a product approval number. We were not able to verify the product approval number, nor whether the product has US FDA clearance.
One more thing worth knowing. The approved Korean indication is essentially the same sentence across this category — “temporary improvement of facial wrinkles in adults”. The same holds for Sculptra, Radiesse and Rejuran. In other words, the word “collagen” appears nowhere in the approved indication. Collagen formation is the mechanism a product claims, not wording it was approved for.
How the treatment runs
The product arrives as a powder to be mixed with liquid, so the mixing (hydration) step and the waiting time are part of the procedure. Injecting before it is fully dispersed leaves more room for clumping.
Depth follows the goal: shallow across many points for texture, deeper for contour. The same product is planned differently depending on what it is for.
Session counts, intervals and volume per session vary by site and skin condition, so we do not put numbers in this page; we give them in consultation. Prices are not covered here — volume and site differ from person to person, so publishing a figure would be more misleading than helpful.
What to expect, and when
Immediately after injection there is a filled look from the hyaluronic acid that went in with it. That is the HA, not Juvelook, and it subsides. Many people read this phase as “it worked and then wore off”; it is the normal course.

Plainly, what remains unanswered
- A randomised controlled trial — not identified.
- Head-to-head comparison with other products — not found.
- The true frequency of nodules — case reports cannot establish it.
- A way to reverse it — no established removal method verified.
- Product approval number and FDA status — not verified.
- Whether Skin or Volume suits a given presentation better — no comparative data found. Our distinction comes from the stated content and product design.

Can I have Juvelook in Daegu?
Miso Clinic keeps both Juvelook Skin and Juvelook Volume. That said, the first thing a consultation does is not to pick a product but to separate whether the concern is texture or hollowing. Sometimes the answer is that a different category fits better.
What is the difference between Skin and Volume?
Same PDLLA category, different content. Skin is 30mg per vial (PDLLA 25.5 + HA 4.5); Volume is 200mg (PDLLA 170 + HA 30). Skin targets texture and thinned skin, Volume the contour of hollowed areas.
Is it the same as a filler?
No. A filler occupies the space it is placed in. With Juvelook, the hyaluronic acid that goes in alongside breaks down, and the remaining PDLLA particles induce collagen formation. That is why it is not immediate.
Is the effect proven?
Within what we verified, there is no randomised controlled trial. The human data is one study of the infraorbital hollow with no control group and no subject count in the abstract. That is not a claim that it does not work; it means it has not been properly tested.
How does it differ from Sculptra?
Sculptra is PLLA, semi-crystalline and slower to degrade; Juvelook’s PDLLA is amorphous and degrades comparatively faster. We could not find a trial comparing the two directly, so we do not tell patients one is better.
Can it cause nodules?
Nodules are a known adverse event for particle-containing stimulators, and one case has been reported for Juvelook (three weeks after an under-eye injection). One case gives no frequency. It is also why we do not reach for this category first under the eye.
If something goes wrong, can it be dissolved?
Not in the way hyaluronic acid can. We could not verify an established removal method. If you want to begin with something reversible, cross-linked HA is the better starting point.
How many sessions, and what does it cost?
Sessions and volume vary by site and skin condition, so we do not state numbers here. Price is omitted for the same reason and given in consultation.
