Sculptra vs JUVELOOK vs Everwrinkle — what is the same, and which face gets which?

With Everwrinkle in, Miso Clinic now has three lactic-acid-based collagen boosters. “Aren’t all three just collagen injections?” Yes. But one letter in the ingredient name, the vial weight, the approval wording and the research behind them all differ. Here they are side by side.

The short answer

Sculptra and Everwrinkle are both PLLA; JUVELOOK is PDLLA with hyaluronic acid added. PLLA is semi-crystalline and breaks down slowly, so it is used more for volume and hollowing. JUVELOOK’s PDLLA is amorphous and breaks down relatively faster, and with hyaluronic acid included it is used more for skin texture and thin skin. Sculptra has a large body of human research, Everwrinkle has no studies under its product name yet, and research on JUVELOOK in Korea is growing. We carry all three at Miso Clinic, 4F Bombom Building, 125 Dongdeok-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu (Exit 1, Kyungpook Nat'l Univ. Hospital Station), +82-53-428-2700 and choose according to your face.

How do PLLA and PDLLA differ?

Both are polymers made from lactic acid. The difference is how the molecules line up. PLLA is built from L-lactic acid alone, so parts of it pack tightly like a crystal. PDLLA mixes L and D forms, so there is no such order.

The ordered form dissolves less easily in water, so it breaks down more slowly. That is why PLLA (Sculptra, Everwrinkle) is used more to stay longer and draw out a volume response, while PDLLA (JUVELOOK) is used more to draw out a gentler response in skin texture. JUVELOOK also contains hyaluronic acid, so the skin feels a bit more hydrated right after treatment.

Are Sculptra and Everwrinkle the same product?

The ingredient is the same PLLA, and both pair it with CMC and mannitol. Calculated from the reported content, the PLLA ratio is also nearly the same, about 41%. However, particle size and shape, molecular weight and manufacturing process can differ between products, and those change the actual result.

In a study of 55 people where another PLLA product and Sculptra were placed on opposite sides of the same face, the two were similar through 24 months. A comparison study like that would need to exist for Everwrinkle before anyone can say “they are the same,” and there is none yet. So I go only as far as “a Korean-made PLLA in the same family.”

Has JUVELOOK been compared head to head with PLLA?

Yes. In a multicenter Korean study, 33 people had a PDLLA + hyaluronic acid product on one nasolabial fold and PLLA on the other, 3 sessions 4 weeks apart. Through 24 weeks, the two sides improved to a similar degree.

But 24 weeks is shorter than the point where PLLA shows what it can do. In the randomized study of 208 people with nasolabial folds, PLLA and hyaluronic acid filler were similar through 12 weeks, then separated after 24 weeks, and at 120 weeks it was 55.56% vs 25.00%. When you are weighing which lasts longer, look at the follow-up period too.

Which product do we consider first for which face?

What Miso Clinic considers first
ConcernWhat I consider firstWhy
Skin texture, pores, thinning skinJUVELOOK SkinPDLLA + hyaluronic acid, texture work in a shallow layer
Mainly nasolabial foldsEverwrinkle or JUVELOOKEverwrinkle’s approval wording names nasolabial folds; JUVELOOK if texture is also a concern
Wide hollowing in the front cheeks or templesSculptra or Everwrinkle VEnough PLLA for a wide area
Long-lasting volume as the prioritySculptra or EverwrinkleSemi-crystalline PLLA; most long-term data are on PLLA

None of the three is “inject once and done.” Each is given over divided sessions while we wait for collagen to fill in. For hollowing that needs filling right away, we talk first about hyaluronic acid filler, which can be dissolved.

What precautions apply to all three?

  • The volume right after treatment is mostly water and fades within days to a few weeks
  • They do not dissolve with hyaluronidase — which is why the layer and amount at the first session matter
  • Nodules are a side effect whose risk we lower with dilution, layer and massage instructions
  • Results are judged after 2–3 months with photos taken under the same conditions

Sculptra vs JUVELOOK vs Everwrinkle: frequently asked questions

Which is better: Sculptra, JUVELOOK or Everwrinkle?

No study has compared all three under the same conditions, so I do not rank them. If texture is your concern I think of JUVELOOK first; for wide hollowing or long-lasting volume, PLLA (Sculptra or Everwrinkle).

Is Everwrinkle a Korean Sculptra?

The ingredients (PLLA, CMC, mannitol) and the PLLA ratio are similar, but there is no data showing the particles, molecular weight or process are the same. Calling it a Korean-made PLLA in the same family is accurate.

Can I get JUVELOOK and Everwrinkle together?

Sometimes we plan them together by splitting areas. For example, PLLA for hollow front cheeks and JUVELOOK Skin for texture. Where they overlap in the same spot, we reduce the amount.
