Rituo and Juvelook: which should I have?

“I’m torn between Rituo and Juvelook.” Both are names many people look for these days, so I hear this often. The two products differ from their starting point, and knowing that difference makes the choice easier.

The short answer

Rituo puts the material skin is made of (hADM) directly into the dermis, while Juvelook puts in PDLLA particles with hyaluronic acid to stimulate the body to make collagen. So Rituo addresses thinned dermis, fine lines and pores, while Juvelook, depending on particle size, covers skin texture through to local volume in areas such as the nasolabial folds and temples. No study compares the two directly. Rituo has a split-face randomised trial of 20 people, and research on Juvelook in Korea is at a growing stage. At Miso Clinic, 4F Bombom Building, 125 Dongdeok-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu (Exit 1, Kyungpook Nat'l Univ. Hospital Station), +82-53-428-2700, we have Rituo and the full Juvelook line-up and choose to fit your concern.

How do the results appear differently?

Juvelook gives a sense of volume right after injection thanks to the hyaluronic acid, which fades over a few weeks; after that, PDLLA draws out collagen and fullness builds again. Around 2–3 weeks there may be a stretch where it seems “worse than at first”; that is the hyaluronic acid fading, not a failure.

Rituo does not create volume, so the change right after is small, and dermal density and texture change gradually over several weeks. In the split-face trial, too, the difference from the hyaluronic acid side appeared only after several weeks.

Which do I consider first for which face?

Which I consider first, by concern (clinical judgement)
ConcernConsidered first
Thinning skin, fine lines, poresRituo
Texture plus a little volume neededJuvelook Skin → Volume if needed
Localised hollowing of nasolabial folds or templesJuvelook Volume or G, or hyaluronic acid filler
Thin, sensitive areas such as around the eyesRituo family
Uncomfortable with human-derived materialJuvelook

How do they compare with Sculptra?

Juvelook’s volume line and Sculptra both gradually fill hollow areas, so they are often compared. Sculptra (PLLA) is semi-crystalline and breaks down more slowly, and in a randomised trial of 208 people with nasolabial folds, a higher proportion maintained improvement up to 120 weeks than with hyaluronic acid filler (55.56% vs 25.00%). A study comparing Juvelook and PLLA found them similar up to 24 weeks, but beyond that they have not yet been compared.

So my reflection is this. If long-lasting volume is the goal, the PLLA data is thicker; if you want texture and light volume together, Juvelook is more convenient. Rituo sits outside this comparison as an option that deals with dermal material rather than volume.

Can I have them together?

If the areas are divided, they can be planned together, for example Rituo around the eyes and Juvelook for the nasolabial folds and temples. I do not recommend layering them in the same area; start with one, watch the progress, then add.

Rituo vs Juvelook: frequently asked questions

Which is better, Rituo or Juvelook?

No study has compared them directly. For thinned dermis and fine lines I consider Rituo first; for texture together with some local volume, Juvelook.

It seems to have faded 2–3 weeks after Juvelook.

That is the stretch when the hyaluronic acid injected with it fades. It is not a failure, and assessment comes after 2–3 months.

Does Rituo add volume too?

No. Rituo does not create volume. For hollow areas, I talk about Juvelook Volume or hyaluronic acid filler.
