Rejuran in Daegu: who is it right for?

Rejuran is better known by its nickname, the “salmon injection”. Who it actually suits is less well known than the nickname. Here is who we suggest it for and who we do not.

The short answer

Rejuran (a PN skin booster) suits skin that is thin and sensitive, where fine lines are starting, and that is dry with rough texture. It does not drive a foreign-body reaction to make collagen; it forms a water-holding mesh that makes the skin’s own recovery easier, so it is gentle on reactive skin.

Among boosters it is unusual in having passed a human phase 3 trial for approval (70 people analysed). What that trial proved, though, was “not inferior to a hyaluronic acid product”, and it helps to know that too.

Who Rejuran fits

  • Skin that is thin and sensitive, so stronger treatments feel like too much
  • Fine lines starting around the eyes and mouth
  • Dry, rough texture that makes make-up sit badly
  • Shallow acne scarring that leaves the surface uneven
  • Wanting to support recovery after laser or RF
  • Discomfort with non-reversible materials — PN degrades

When Rejuran is not the answer

  • Hollow cheeks or nasolabial area — filler territory.
  • Sagging contour — RF lifting works on that layer.
  • Deep expression lines — botulinum toxin comes first.
  • You want one visible change in one go — Rejuran arrives gradually over a course.
  • Fish allergy — proteins are filtered out in purification, but tell us if you have a history.

Healer, HB, HB Plus: what is the difference

The Rejuran range
CompositionCharacter
Rejuran HealerPN aloneThe basic formulation. Viscous, so more pain and bumps on injection
Rejuran HBPN + hyaluronic acidAdded hydration; feels dewy right after
Rejuran HB PlusPN + hyaluronic acid + lidocaineLocal anaesthetic makes it the least painful. Miso Clinic’s default

The manufacturer says it added lidocaine to HB Plus “to reduce pain compared with existing Rejuran”. Read the other way, the original is a painful treatment. We would rather say so. Details in Rejuran HB versus regular Rejuran.

How many sessions

The approval phase 3 used three sessions two weeks apart; clinics generally suggest three to four sessions three to four weeks apart as a course. Many people notice change around the second session, and it becomes clear after the course. Why it takes several sessions is in Why Rejuran takes more than one session.

Which treatment is “best” is decided by the state of your skin right now, not by the product. In consultation we look first at what has been lost and what is still there, before we talk about any product name.

Frequently asked questions

From what age?

Condition, not age. Dry, rough skin in your late twenties makes you a candidate; a main problem of sagging in your fifties does not put Rejuran first.

How much does it hurt?

Healer is viscous and does hurt. HB Plus contains lidocaine and is the least uncomfortable; we apply numbing cream for about 30 minutes first.

How long does it last?

The phase 3 followed people for 12 weeks. Beyond that we decide by condition. Many people review at about six months after a course, but that is clinical experience, not trial data.

GOURI or Rejuran?

They have never been compared directly. The purposes differ: texture and fine lines on thin, sensitive skin points to Rejuran; lost density points to GOURI. See GOURI versus Rejuran.
