GOURI versus Re2O: when to choose which

Both are candidates for thinned skin, so they get confused. The difference is exactly one thing: does it tell the skin, or give the skin?

Treatment comparisonAbout a 5-minute readSeptember 2026Miso Clinic, Daegu · Dr. Lee Chi-Hak

The short answer

GOURI provokes a reaction so the body makes collagen; Re2O supplies collagen and elastin directly. Both are candidates when skin has thinned and lost density. If a foreign-body reaction and nodules worry you, or you are fine with human-derived material, Re2O; if you want your own collagen to increase rather than material added, and you accept that it cannot be reversed, GOURI. They have never been compared directly.

Choose GOURI when

  • You want your own collagen to increase rather than material added
  • Volume is fine but firmness and density have dropped
  • Human-derived material bothers you
  • You understand it cannot be reversed and the data is 33 people, and choose anyway

Choose Re2O when

  • Nodule risk from the PCL and PLLA class worries you
  • Skin has thinned so much the material itself is lacking
  • Non-reversible synthetic material is uncomfortable
  • You know and accept the human-derived source

Neither when

Lost volume is filler territory and a sagging contour is RF territory. For neck and hands, the GOURI manufacturer recommends the face only and Re2O has no neck-specific data, so for both we say “no data” first.

Which treatment is “best” is decided by the state of your skin right now, not by the product. In consultation we look first at what has been lost and what is still there, before we talk about any product name.

Frequently asked questions

Which lasts longer?

GOURI was followed to six months, Re2O to 20 weeks. Neither has data beyond, so they cannot be compared.

Can I have both?

Split by area or timing, yes. Not the same area on the same day.

Is human skin as a source safe?

Only the structural material remains after cells and DNA are removed; it has long been used in burn and breast reconstruction. If it bothers you, we will not push it.
