How many GOURI sessions do you need?

“I was told you need three.” Many people arrive with that number. The manufacturer says something a little different. Let us look at where the numbers part ways.

The short answer

the GOURI manufacturer FAQ recommends one session, with one or two follow-ups at four to six weeks only if needed. One is the baseline; more is optional. The “three sessions, three to four weeks apart” that circulates widely is a figure whose primary source we could not find.

And, to be plain, no human study has compared one session against three. So Miso Clinic starts with one and decides on more after looking at the skin at four weeks or later.

The numbers come from three different places

The session counts you see for GOURI have different origins.

Rather than asking which is right, keep one thing in mind: three is not the manufacturer’s default.

Why wait four weeks before deciding

GOURI is not a treatment that shows on the day. The earliest recorded change in the literature is at four weeks, and tissue collagen increase was confirmed at six weeks in animals. Deciding at two or three weeks that “it did nothing” and booking another session means counting a change that has not arrived yet as absent, and adding sessions on that basis.

So we wait at least four weeks after the first session before deciding. The calendar does not decide; the skin does.

How Miso Clinic decides

  • One session as the baseline. Same as the manufacturer.
  • Review together at four weeks. Texture, fine lines and firmness, checked by examination.
  • One or two more if needed, at four to six week intervals.
  • No prepaid packages. Locking in a session count for a material that cannot be reversed shifts the risk onto the patient.

Why other boosters have different counts

Each class gets its number from a different place. Rejuran’s “three sessions two weeks apart” comes from its approval trial protocol; Sculptra’s “up to four, three weeks apart” comes from its US FDA trial. GOURI’s count comes from manufacturer guidance, not a trial. The comparison is in GOURI versus Rejuran.

Which treatment is “best” is decided by the state of your skin right now, not by the product. In consultation we look first at what has been lost and what is still there, before we talk about any product name.

Frequently asked questions

Is GOURI a one-off?

By the manufacturer, one session is the baseline and more is optional. Whether one is enough only shows at four weeks.

I was offered a three-session package. Is that normal?

Three is not wrong as such, but it is not the manufacturer default. Ask why three. The honest answer is that no study has compared session counts.

Can I shorten the interval to two weeks?

We advise against it. Before four weeks the first session’s change has not fully arrived, and layering on top means nobody can tell what did what.

How many times a year is acceptable?

No human data covers long-term repeat treatment. The longest human observation is six months; beyond that we decide case by case.
