How does REALLO treatment go, and how long is recovery?

“How long does it take?” “Can I go straight back to work?” These questions always come up before treatment. Apart from mixing the powder just before treatment, REALLO follows much the same flow as other hADM treatments. Here it is in the order we actually do it in the treatment room.

The short answer

REALLO treatment goes consultation → numbing cream → mixing just before treatment → injection into the dermis in divided amounts with a fine needle, and takes about 30–40 minutes including numbing. Right after treatment the injection points may be slightly raised and red; this usually settles within a few days. If bruising appears, it can take 1–2 weeks. Changes show gradually over several weeks, and the next session is decided after seeing how the first goes. At Miso Clinic, 4F Bombom Building, 125 Dongdeok-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu (Exit 1, Kyungpook Nat'l Univ. Hospital Station), +82-53-428-2700, we check the genuine product box and human-tissue labelling with you before treatment.

What happens in the consultation before treatment?

  • Sorting out the concern — first we separate thinned skin, density and texture from hollowing and sagging. REALLO does not create volume
  • Human-tissue disclosure — I tell you the material comes from donated human skin. If that makes you uncomfortable, we plan with a different class
  • Health check — I ask about pregnancy or breastfeeding, infection at the treatment site and any history of allergy
  • Genuine product check — we look at the product box, the sterility mark and the expiry date together

In what order is the treatment done?

  1. 1Cleansing, numbing creamThe numbing cream goes on and we wait. This wait is a large share of the total time.
  2. 2Mixing just before treatmentThe powder syringe and the fluid syringe are joined with a connector and pushed back and forth end to end at least 30 times (official instructions). The amount of fluid is set for the area.
  3. 3InjectionWith a fine needle, the material is placed into the dermis at many separate points. I do not put it all in one spot.
  4. 4Finishing, calmingI check the injection sites, calm the skin and go over aftercare before you leave.

It takes about 30–40 minutes including numbing. Each product is used for one person; any remainder is not kept or reused.

Why is it mixed just before treatment?

REALLO is stored as a freeze-dried powder. That is why it can be kept at room temperature (1–30°C) with a shelf life of 5 years from manufacture. Just before use it is hydrated so that it can be injected.

The upside is that the amount of fluid sets the concentration; the point to watch is that if it is not mixed enough, the particles may not be even. So I follow the official instruction of “at least 30 times back and forth” as written.

What is it like after treatment?

Common reactions after treatment
ReactionUsuallyWhat to do
Small raised bumps at injection pointsSettle within a few daysDo not press or rub them
Redness, swellingSame day to a few daysA light cold compress
Bruising1–2 weeks if it appearsCover-up make-up from the next day
Increasing warmth or pain, pusUncommonThese can be signs of infection — contact us straight away

How long each lasts depends on your skin and the amount injected. The table describes the course commonly seen with hADM treatment; I have not yet found a study of recovery under the REALLO product name.

When can I get back to normal?

  • Gentle face washing from the evening of the treatment day, make-up from the next day
  • Avoid saunas, hard exercise and alcohol for the first two days, and take care for about a week
  • Put off facial massage and gua sha for the first week
  • Blood donation may be restricted under the rules on human tissue grafts — mention the treatment at the pre-donation screening

When do changes show, and how many sessions?

This is not a filling treatment, so nothing changes overnight. Changes show gradually over several weeks. There is no standard number of sessions set by research, so we look at photos of the first session taken under the same conditions and decide the next step together. I do not recommend bundling several sessions from the start.

About 30–40 minutes including numbing cream. Waiting for the numbing takes a while, and there is a step where the powder is mixed with hydration fluid just before treatment.

Can I go straight back to work after REALLO?

Usually, yes. The injection points may be slightly raised or red for a few days, and if bruising appears it can take 1–2 weeks. Let me know in advance if you have an important event.

How many REALLO sessions do I need?

There is no standard number set by research. We decide on the next session together after seeing how the first one goes.
