The short answer

What is a XERF ambassador?
XERF is made by Cynosure Lutronic, and the company has selected Miso Clinic as a XERF ambassador. The certificate says the selection recognises that we adopted and perform XERF on the basis of an understanding of dual monopolar RF.
XERF is a monopolar radiofrequency device that uses two frequencies, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz; “dual monopolar” on the certificate refers to that design.

Korean medical advertising law prohibits guaranteeing results or comparing clinics, so we describe the title only as a fact of manufacturer selection. Results depend on the face and the plan, and XERF human data so far follow people for about three months.

The shot count is sealed into the tip; it is not a recommendation. Effectors are single-use and stop when the count runs out.
Why the i05 around the eyes — eye XERF
“Eye XERF” is not a separate machine; it is XERF fitted with the small i05 eye effector. We use a small tip there because it makes contact.
- Thin. The eye area has the thinnest dermis on the face, so small differences show as shadow and show-through.
- Narrow. A 20 × 30 mm tip mostly lands outside the eye area.
- Curved. A large flat tip lifts on one side of a curve, and where it lifts, radiofrequency does not go in.
At the same current a small tip has higher current density and heats a narrow spot harder. But the only human study that compared tip sizes (on a monopolar device other than XERF) found no significant difference between tips (p=0.845). So we describe the i05 not as a stronger tip but as a tip that sits evenly on the eye area.
We continue the eyes from the face
A XERF consultation at Miso Clinic usually runs in this order. This is clinical judgement, not a rule from a comparative trial.
- Separate the concern first. Is the eye area about texture and laxity, hollowing (shadow) or colour (dark circles)? Hollowing and colour often are not radiofrequency problems.
- Choose effectors by site. E40 or E60 for broad areas of the face, i10 for small surfaces, i05 around the eyes.
- Continue the eyes from the face. Treating the eyes alone can leave an edge between eye and cheek.
Asking “which effector and how many shots?” and “eyes alone, or continued from the face?” at a consultation shows you the plan.

The certificate states that the clinic is selected as an ambassador in recognition of adopting and performing XERF on the basis of its understanding of dual monopolar RF. It is a manufacturer selection, not a state licence or a guarantee of results. The original hangs in the clinic.

The electrode pattern dimensions in US FDA 510(k) summary K251327 (05 Tip 9 × 4.5 mm and so on) differ, and we could not confirm which describes the true conducting area. - A shot is a sealed specification — US FDA GUDID entries and each manufacturer’s published data. The 300 / 600 / 900 sold in the market fall out as multiples and combinations of those specifications. It is a consumable unit, not a clinically defined dose.
- The same shot count is a different dose with a different tip — nominal area is tip area × shot count, and real coverage is smaller because passes overlap by 15-30%. Yang YS et al., J Clin Aesthet Dermatol 2024;17(2):20–22 (3 versus 4 cm², 300 shots per side) · Suh DH et al., Lasers Med Sci 2025;40:530 (0.25 cm² eye tip, 225 shots per lid). Nominal area is our own calculation and appears in no paper.
- Current density and electrode area — established principle — Li AA, Zhou MJ, Hwang JH. Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America 2023;33(1):29–40, DOI 10.1016/j.giec.2022.07.001: “temperature in tissue rises as a square of the current density”. At the same current, a smaller electrode gives a higher current density. This is textbook electrosurgery.
- The only human study comparing tip sizes — Yang YS, Kim DH, Ha JH et al., J Clin Aesthet Dermatol 2024;17(2):20–22, PMID 38444428. A monopolar RF device other than XERF, 3 cm² versus 4 cm² tips, split-face in 31 people. The between-tip comparison reported in the text was p=0.845, not significant; the p<0.001 figures are before-versus-after. The authors’ conclusion nonetheless reads as if the tips differ. Temperature and depth were not measured.
- What we could not find — a human measurement of depth or temperature by tip area, a human study comparing eye tips with face tips on the eye area, and XERF human data on the eye area alone.
