DCLASSY CaHA: what are its strengths, and what are its limits?

Sitting in the DCLASSY session at the DEEP Symposium, I thought of a question I often hear in the consulting room: “Is it the same as Radiesse? Then what is good about it?” Here are its strengths and limits on one page.

The short answer

The strengths of DCLASSY CaHA are: (1) you can expect both volume right after injection and collagen formation over several months; (2) its particles are designed to be uniform in size and shape, so it injects smoothly; and (3) it is approved by Korea’s MFDS as a tissue-repair material in two sizes, 0.8 and 1.5 mL, which makes it easy to divide the amount by area. Its limits are clear too. Once injected it cannot be dissolved and removed, and most of the clinical evidence comes from studies of Radiesse, a product in the same class. At Miso Clinic, 4F Bombom Building, 125 Dongdeok-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu (Exit 1, Kyungpook Nat'l Univ. Hospital Station), +82-53-428-2700, I use DCLASSY in deeper layers, in divided amounts, using less at the start.

What kind of product is DCLASSY?

DCLASSY is a CaHA (calcium hydroxylapatite) collagen booster made by CGBio and supplied by DNC Aesthetics. It is a gel containing microspheres of the same kind of mineral that makes up bone and teeth, and outside Korea it is sold as FACETEM in about 30 countries (manufacturer’s figure).

Strength 1 — a change you see now and a change that comes gradually

With most collagen boosters you wait several weeks before you see a change. With DCLASSY, the gel fills space right after injection, so you can see some change on the day, and once the gel is absorbed, collagen forms around the remaining microspheres and brings a second change.

Tissue studies across the class have repeatedly reported more type I and type III collagen and elastin where CaHA was injected. Most of those studies, however, used Radiesse.

Strength 2 — the particles are designed to be uniform

The manufacturer describes DCLASSY’s microspheres as spheres of uniform size and shape, with a Lattice-Pore structure of fine pores on the surface. Uniform particles mean steady resistance as they leave the syringe, so it injects smoothly and is easier to place in divided amounts without clumping in one spot.

This is the manufacturer’s description. There is no published data comparing its particles directly with other CaHA products, so we say only “this is how it is designed,” not “it is better.”

Strength 3 — there is a framework for planning by goal

DNC Aesthetics trains doctors in a standard protocol (CAST-Code) that splits DCLASSY treatment into three tracks, lifting, structural contour and skin renewal, and links product properties, facial anatomy and goals. The DEEP Symposium was part of that same effort.

For you, this means a consultation that first settles “what for, and where” before “how many cc.” With two sizes, 0.8 mL and 1.5 mL, it is also easy to divide the amount by area.

What are the limits?

  • It cannot be reversed — hyaluronidase does not dissolve it, which is why I do not overcorrect
  • If placed too shallow, nodules can show — I place it in deeper layers in divided amounts
  • I do not use it in the lips or under the eyes — these are areas where nodules form easily
  • No published clinical trial data for DCLASSY itself could be found — most of the evidence is from Radiesse
  • It shows on CT — please mention the treatment if you have facial imaging

Who is it suited to?

At Miso Clinic we keep both DCLASSY and Radiesse as CaHA options. That is not about one being better; it is so we can choose by area and purpose. More detail is on the DCLASSY treatment page.

DCLASSY strengths: frequently asked questions

What are the strengths of DCLASSY?

You can expect both volume right after injection and collagen formation over several months; its particles are designed to be uniform, so it injects smoothly; and it comes in two sizes, 0.8 and 1.5 mL.

Are DCLASSY and Radiesse the same?

Both are CaHA microspheres in a gel, so they belong to the same class, but they are different products. Most of the clinical evidence comes from Radiesse studies, and there is no published data comparing the two directly.

Can DCLASSY be dissolved?

No. Hyaluronidase does not dissolve CaHA. That is why I place it in deeper layers, in divided amounts, using less at the start.
