Oligio Kiss in Daegu — why radiofrequency and ultrasound are used together, and which faces it suits
Oligio Kiss is the device whose name causes the most confusion. It is not the same machine as Oligio or Oligio X: it is a combined device that adds focused ultrasound (HIFU) to radiofrequency (RF). This column sets out whom Miso Clinic considers it for first, whom we do not recommend it for, and how far the published evidence goes.
The short answer
We consider Oligio Kiss first for a face where thinning skin with lost firmness and sagging of the deeper layers are both present. Radiofrequency warms the dermis broadly, while focused ultrasound places discrete coagulation points at a depth set by the cartridge, so the two work on different layers. However, we could not find any published clinical trial carried out with Oligio Kiss itself, and there is no comparative study showing that delivering both from one device is better than using two separate devices. Its approved name with Korea’s MFDS is The Great RF Sonata (Wontech, approved 1 September 2023).
What kind of device is Oligio Kiss?
Oligio Kiss is a lifting device that combines Wontech’s monopolar RF device Oligio and its focused ultrasound device Ultraskin Tightan in a single unit. Its approved name with the MFDS is “The Great RF Sonata” (1 September 2023), and it was launched in Korea in February 2024 under the market name Oligio Kiss. If a search turns up both names, they are the same device.

Online posts sometimes present an advertising pre-review number as though it were an approval number. They are different numbers from different procedures.
Which layers do radiofrequency and focused ultrasound reach?
Radiofrequency heats broadly; focused ultrasound places points at a set depth. They are not two ways of doing the same job but technologies with different territories.

The face we see most often in the consulting room has both problems: the skin has thinned and the jawline has blurred as well. The design intent of Oligio Kiss is to use the two energies one after the other on such a face without changing machines.
“Can do both” does not mean “must always do both”. If loss of firmness is the only problem, RF alone; if deep sagging is the main problem, more weight on ultrasound — we use only as much of each as is needed. That choice is the real advantage of a device with two energies.

How far has the evidence been confirmed?
As far as we could find, there are no published clinical trial results for Oligio Kiss as a device. MFDS approval means the device passed a review of safety and performance; it does not mean there are effect figures published in papers. That is why this column contains no sentence of the “lasts so many months” or “improves by so many per cent” kind.
Evidence for the device classes — not evidence for this device
- Monopolar RF — in a study of 20 women, one session, 24 weeks of follow-up, the jawline and nasolabial folds improved significantly at 12 weeks, with mean pain of 0.4/10. There was no control group and only a small number of women were included.
- Focused ultrasound — there is a 2025 systematic review in Aesthetic Surgery Journal. We could not check the full text ourselves, so no figures are quoted.
- Comparison between RF devices — of the 15 studies and 1,230 subjects gathered by a 2026 systematic review, one was a randomised controlled trial, and no direct device-to-device comparison was found.
The pain score of 0.4/10 above is for RF alone. When focused ultrasound is added, each coagulation point brings a sharp or aching sensation, so the burden is greater.
Recovery and pain, and when to judge the result

There are no published data on how long results last with this device, so we do not give a number. We do not recommend a bundle of sessions from the start; we decide the next step from how the face looks two to three months later.

Are Oligio, Oligio X and Oligio Kiss the same device?
They are different products. Oligio is a monopolar RF device, Oligio X is a separate model with dual-mode RF, and Oligio Kiss combines the RF device Oligio and the focused ultrasound device Ultraskin Tightan in one unit.
Is Oligio Kiss clinically proven?
As far as we could find, there is no published clinical trial carried out with Oligio Kiss itself. There is literature on monopolar RF and on focused ultrasound, but that is evidence for the device classes in general and does not prove the performance of this device.
Does Oligio Kiss hurt a lot?
With RF alone the main sensation is building warmth; when focused ultrasound is added, each coagulation point brings a sharp or aching sensation, so the burden is greater. We use numbing cream depending on the area and adjust the intensity, but we do not tell you it is painless.
Which is better: Oligio Kiss, Density or XERF?
No study has compared the three devices under the same conditions, so there is no basis for ranking them. We start from the face: Oligio Kiss when loss of firmness and deep sagging are both present, Density when the skin is thicker and the sagging deep, XERF when a lighter anaesthesia burden matters most. This is clinical judgement.
How many sessions of Oligio Kiss do I need, and how long does it last?
There are no research-established data on the number of sessions or the duration of results for this device. The collagen response triggered by heat develops over several weeks, so we review progress at two to three months and decide whether more is needed.
